The massively popular game, Among Us, is about to invade a new realm: the world of animated television! The indie hit that has captured the hearts of gamers worldwide is being turned into an animated series by none other than CBS Studios in collaboration with the game's creators at Innersloth and the animation company Titmouse.
Owen Dennis, best known for his work on the acclaimed Cartoon Network series Infinity Train, is on board to serve as the series' creator and executive producer. Innersloth's very own Forest Willard, Marcus Bromander, and Carl Neisser, as well as Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina of Titmouse, are also joining the team as executive producers.
So what can we expect from the Among Us animated series? If the game is any indication, expect plenty of suspicion, deception, and 'emergency meetings'! The series description matches the game's premise: "Members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the 'Impostor' or fall victim to its murderous designs".
While no network or streaming platform has been confirmed to host the series yet, CBS' involvement suggests that Paramount+ could be a potential home for the show. As of now, there's no official release window for the series, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for more updates in the coming months.
Among Us became an overnight sensation back in 2020, nearly two years after its initial launch. During its peak, the game boasted nearly 500 million monthly active users and dominated charts on Google Play and iOS across dozens of countries. It's no wonder that CBS and Innersloth are eager to bring this social deduction game to life in a new format.
