Trailer Break Down - Avengers: Doomsday (X-Men)

Marvel’s latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday sends a clear message: the MCU has entered the mutant era. While the Avengers remain at the heart of the story, this trailer places the X-Men front and center, positioning them as a crucial force in what looks to be Marvel’s most apocalyptic event yet.

The trailer opens with footage of a dilapidated mansion, which is quickly revealed to be Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters. A gravely voiceover accompanies the visuals with talk of "death comes for all of us." It's not obvious at first, but it quickly becomes clear that we're seeing the X-Mansion with dialogue provided by a familiar voice.

We then get to see the familiar wheelchair with the X symbol of the wheels. More dialogue lets us know this is not the story of happiness, but rather struggle and things to come. We are treated to two great real life friends who are also fictional besties turned enemies turned into elderly companions, Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr (Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen).

Perhaps the most intriguing, and definitely most action part of the teaser, is Cyclops unleashing his alpha level powers all at once by ripping off his ruby quartz lenses to attack something offscreen. This is out of character for Mr. Boy Scout, so I can't wait to see what has him so out of control.

I'm super stoked to see the X-Men get their own trailer in the next episode of the Avengers, but most importantly, I can't wait to see them return from a long draught of mutant stories.

Check out the new trailer and let us know what you think in the comments!
