This recap of the Disney + series Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1 Episode 5, “Shadow Warrior” contains spoilers.
Ahsoka's fifth episode, "Shadow Warrior," brings a rawness to the series with religious undertones and Star Wars references that will surely satisfy fans with its alluring exploration of power in the SWU.
Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1 Episode 5 Recap
Why does Ahsoka choose a different path than Anakin Skywalker chose for her?
The episode shows her the skills on how to fight that Anakin has taught her, but when it comes to morals and values, Anakin and Ahsoka are on different pages. This scene is comparable to Yoda and Luke's training years later.
You may also notice that Anakin's eyes are red and that, for the briefest of moments, Ahsoka's eyes flash red for a second. This alludes to the alluring power of the dark side, but Ahsoka manages to keep her self-control because of her self-awareness.
Anakin teaches her a lesson on how to live or die, which seems to be an unconscious manifestation to her, most likely drowning in the sea. In her mind, she defeats Anakin by choosing her path, and he leaves, and she is disappointed.
Why is Ahsoka now dressed in all white?
When it comes to Ahsoka, her transformation from a warrior—an extension of Anakin—has gone through her rebirth into a side of the force that is pure and not evil. This signifies a shift not only for Ahsoka but also for the SWU.
As the dark force represents fear, greed, and selfishness, the light side of the force Ahsoka chooses is what Obi-Wan Kenobi taught us, including compassion, selflessness, self-knowledge, and enlightenment.
How does Ahsoka track Baylan and Lady Morgan?
If you remember, the star map was destroyed in the last episode. However, you may also remember those awesome Purrgils, the space whales we saw in episode three. Now, with her new enlightened connection to the force, Ahsoka can use the power to access communication with the Purrgil community because ancient migration patterns from the giant beasts created the star maps.
Apparently, in the Star Wars universe, they measure hyperdrive in Purrgil power instead of horsepower because, according to Ahsoka, they can make up the time to catch up to Balyan and Lady Morgan.
They could even beat them there. These scenes are evocative of ones from the Old Testament, as we see the eye of one of the whales, as Jonah did. As they leave, traveling inside the belly of the whale-like Fantasia, Ahsoka appears to be a new Jedi, carefree and going where the Purrgil takes her.
How does Jacen save Ahsoka?
Jacen has the force within him and can hear the battle of the lightsabers in between the crashing of the waves. It is revealed that Jacen's father was Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi who died at the Battle of Yavin before the Empire fell.
If you have a sharp eye, you will notice that Hera has a picture of Kanan on the dashboard of her vehicle.
